Interventional Neuroradiology
Interventional Neuroradiology is a minimally invasive approach in the treatment of vascular diseases of the central nervous system that in the past would have required surgical intervention. Treatment procedures include management of patient with brain and spinal AVMs, Aneurysms, dural AVFs, Venous Malformations of the head and neck region including epistaxis as well as acute stroke. Stroke prevention techniques (angioplasty and stending) as well as Percutaneous Vertebroplasty are also being performed.

NMC offers exclusive facility for Interventional Neuroradiology through the OEC 9800 Neuro Vascular Interventional Lab. The procedures are being performed as per international norms and restored health to many patients, from both India and abroad.

Technique of Internvetional Neuroradiology
A tiny hollow tube, called a catheter is installed in an artery in the groin. The catheter is threaded through the circulatory system to the brain. It is then guided to the precise site with the aid of a TV monitor, displaying an X-Ray image to the neuroradiologist. Through the microcatheter coils, glue or particles are introduced into the cerebral vessel at the precise site. After the procedure, the catheter is then withdrawn. The procedures are usually done under General Anaesthesia.
Our services work in close collaboration with both cerebro vascular neurosurgery and stroke neurology groups so that patients are given full consideration of the therapeutic options before a treatment recommendation is made.
Diagnostic Neurology
Diagnostic Neurology services at NMC Hospital are taken care of by our neurophysiology laboratory and neuroradiology division. The former performs 18 channel EEG, 24 channel video EEG for long term monitoring as well as sleep observation. Electromyography, nerve conduction and evoked response studies are also available.
Neuroradiology performs standard plain neuroradiology, digital subtraction angiography, 1.5 T MR imaging of brain and whole spine as well a MR angiography. Spiral CT neuroimaging including dedicated CT angiography and a 3 dimensional re-formatting are available with us.
SPECT perfusion radionuclide imaging is also available. Neck vessel Doppler ultrasound imaging is routinely performed for extracranial cerebrovascular disease.
